What is The Sceptic's Tarot?
The Sceptic’s Tarot is about reading and using the tarot for non-supernatural purposes, such as
- solving complex problems,
- creative activities such as writing fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction, and
- introspection, reflection and journalling.
There is nothing mystical, esoteric or supernatural involved.
The Sceptic's Tarot offers a different take on how to use Tarot cards, and is for everyone, both believers and sceptics.
The Sceptic's Tarot is also for anyone who has a challenging problem or wants to use the cards for creative ideas, and you are warmly invited to explore the articles on this website.
Who is the 'Sceptic'?
Martie Groenewald has been studying and playing with tarot cards since 2007.
The idea of a sceptic’s Tarot came about because she loves the cards, and loves playing with them, but is sceptic about their use for fortunetelling or divination.
She also loves creativity, solving problems with creative solutions, and coming up with original ideas for creative projects.
While she was studying the cards, it struck her that Tarot reading is a very creative process, and that most tarot readings are for solving problems. These problems may include challenging relationships, shaky finances, a desire for getting to know or expressing the self, or a knot in the writing of a novel.
In combining her two passions—tarot cards and creative thinking—she shows how, together, they create something larger than the sum of its parts.
